MARKETING CHECKLIST
Always begin at least two weeks before your event!
-
Plan to begin your publicity campaign a minimum of two weeks before your event!
* Most of the following suggestions are free. Cost estimates are listed to help with your budget. Please remember these are only estimates.
- Reserve your location.
- Always check “yes” for advertising when completing your reservation form. Be as specific as possible with the title and description of the event.
- Meet with Andy Mrusko - Assistant Director, Marketing. (amrusko@umd.edu)
- Fill out our Event Submission form.
- Your 100-word description will be forwarded to: The Diamondback, Mitzpeh, Eclipse, Black Explosion, Public Asian, La Voz Latina, Off Campus Students listserv, Community Service listserv, the Freshman Connection listserv, over 500 student organizations (within the body of the Weekly Events at MD on-line calendar), and the Stamp’s Info Desk.
- Your 15-word description will be used on our web calendar of events, channel 76, USA News Network, and the Stamp’s Facebook page.
- If your event takes place in the Stamp you receive extra marketing assistance. For example, we will list your event on our seven AXIS plasma TV screens and you will have the help of the Stamp Street Team. The SST does three things: flyer, chalk, and survey for events in the Stamp. Finally, we list the top ten events in the Stamp each week and send them to an RA listserv. Our hope is that RAs will share these opportunities with the students they mentor.
- List all FREE events at the FREE STUFF @ UM site. Go to www.umd.edu; see UM Community on the right, click on free stuff.
- Banner and showcase space is reservable in the Stamp.
- The following are recommended and do have costs associated with them. You have the option of advertising on Shuttle UM ($125.00*), the Hoff Theater movie screen ($70.00)*, working with Design Services to produce 22x26 portrait posters ($30.00* per), and flyers ($35.00* per 500).
You are planning great events so let students know about them!
