Every day:

Works by Barbara Bergstrom, Tracy Templeton, Addison Will and Andy Moon Wilson

COLLEGE PARK, MD—The University of Maryland’s Union Gallery presents Every day: Works by Barbara Bergstrom, Tracy Templeton, Addison Will and Andy Moon Wilson. The exhibition runs from Aug. 10-Sept. 21 with a closing reception on Sept. 15 from 5-7 p.m..

Every day examines the conversations humans have with themselves on a daily basis. “Mourning, celebrating, decision-making all don’t happen in a matter of hours, or the time it takes for a funeral or graduation. Every day explores the individual quiet that happens before the dramatic, presentable moments,” said exhibition curator and University of Maryland art history graduate student Hannah Wong.

Barbara Bergstrom and Andy Moon Wilson use the sheer quantity of “things” to look at the routines of living. Bergstom’s 1,000 Things is a mixture of ceramic sculpture and video projected performance art. Her continuing installation fits into the artist’s larger theme of the weight of the daily life. Moon Wilson’s installation of over 700 whimsical small-scale works use media found in the everyday such as paper scraps from placemats and advertisements.

Tracy Templeton and Addison Will confront life as it surrounds particular events. Using a minimal palette in the etching Early, Templeton works through the death of her father and Will’s photographic work, Untitled, records the artist’s process of becoming a father.

The Union Gallery is located on the first floor of the Stamp Student Union on the campus of the University of Maryland, College Park. Admission to the exhibition is free and open to the public. Hours are 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
