Graduate Student Government is the supreme graduate student governmental body charged with serving and representing all graduate students at the University of Maryland. GSG works to formulate policies promoting and governing the activities and welfare of all graduate students as well as help advise the University administration on issues affecting graduate student life. GSG is also responsible for the allocation of the Graduate Student Activity Fee. GSG is open to all registered and currently enrolled graduate students and meets once every month.

GSG Assembly Meetings Schedule can be accessed at http://gsg.umd.edu/go/assembly/meetings

Run for one of 6 GSG Executive Officer Positions
The GSG president is a 20 hour a week commitment that is compensated through full tuition remission, health benefits and a competitive stipend. The 5 GSG Vice Presidential positions are a 5 hour per week commitment and are compensated with $1,000 per semester. Elections are campus wide and are held during the month of April. For more information check out the GSG web page.

Become a GSG Department Representative
Representatives are voting members of the GSG Assembly (meets once a month) that represent the needs of graduate students. Your department is responsible for selecting representatives and is allowed one GSG representative for every 100 students in the department. Please report new representatives to the GSG Vice President of Legislative Affairs.

Serve on a GSG Committee
In order to ensure proper representation in all areas of concern to University graduate students, Graduate Student Government needs to ensure strong membership in its committees. These committees develop and carry out GSG policy in a variety of areas. Committee membership is open to any registered degree-seeking graduate student.

To find out more about GSG committees, visit the Committee Affairs website.
To serve on a GSG Committee, contact the GSG Vice President of Committee Affairs.
